BACKGROUND
Spud Buddy is a young company, situated in Johannesburg,
South Africa.
Established in 2020, Spud Buddy is a subsidiary of WiB Africa
Pty Ltd and has grown from a home industry business with an
output of 1.8 tons of fresh chips per month, to a fully set up
frozen fries’ factory based in Johannesburg with a capacity of
over 18 tons per month.
Spud Buddy Frozen Chips is a reliable producer and supplier of high-quality frozen french fries, which we produce coming from various potato farmers. We focus on our customers’ requirements and supply them with safe products processed in a semi-automatized and innovative way. We supply Frozen Potato chips at the most competitive prices.
We are an Agri Processing company producing our own brand of frozen chips in 6mm, 9mm and 12mm sizes. We serve large purchasing customers in the catering, restaurant, hotel and education industries.
All components going into our products are locally sourced, We also cater for the more health conscious consumer by not using the oil, preservatives and additives that other similar companies use. This makes our product unique. WE CARE ABOUT OUR CUSTOMERS.
OUR BUSINESS Since Spud Buddy’s inception in 2020 we have been able to produce and supply product to over 700 customers in South Africa and our R&D Department is always ready to try and fulfill the requirements of our clientele. We primarily supply retail stores, hotels, restaurants, schools and catering businesses with premium quality frozen potato chips in various sizes. Spud Buddy will be expanding its frozen foods line in 2022 to include frozen sweet potato fries and chip sauces.
Customer satisfaction is our main goal and quality is the key to its achievement. Therefore, the strictest standards of hygiene are implemented. Furthermore, an extended HACCP system is fully operative, and we are in the process of obtaining a R638 certification and an independent food safety audit certification early in 2022. Spud Buddy does the utmost to prepare a high-quality product. To make sure our products are cooked to perfection, we offer our clients helpful hints and recipe’s. This means everyone will be able to fry or oven bake our chips in order to get a nutritional, good tasting potato product.

We produce frozen chips which are par boiled in the following sizes:-
1. 6mm (skinny chip)
2. 9mm (standard size chip)
3. 12mm (thick chip)
Our chips should be kept frozen at a minimum of -18 degrees Celsius and can be fried from frozen state, straight out of the bag.
If you want a crispy chip, please follow the double fry method. There are many videos on youtube demonstrating this method of frying.
