Heidi was born in 1955 in White River, Mpumalanga where she grew up and completed her schooling. She then went on to qualify as a high school teacher, teaching German and French. In 1981 she married Otto and stopped teaching in order to raise a family. Heidi always knew that one day she would paint and once the last of her children had started school she embarked on her art career. She completed a diploma course in Fine Art in 1997 at the Open Window Art Academy in Pretoria and has been painting and attending workshops ever since. Heidi teaches art and hosts workshops from her home in Midrand in all media as well as ceramic and fabric painting, mosaic and decoupage. She enjoys painting landscapes, still life, portraits and animals although her real passion is the painting of the human figure. Heidi acknowledges that her talent is entirely God-given and she aims to portray the beauty and splendour of God’s creation in her paintings. Much of her work is commission-based however she also exhibits and sells her work from a number of galleries in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, the Western Cape, Garden Route and from her home studio in Midrand, South Africa. The creation of art is a combination of talent, acquired skills, imagination, vision, passion and a desire to express. Bookings are limited to availability of space and accommodation (where required). Please ensure you register and book early for art classes and portrait courses to avoid disappointment.
