Hour building or hire and fly can be done on our superbly maintained range of R22 and R44 helicopters, as well as the Alouette II helicopter, at very competitive rates. ATS offers first class helicopter training that will give you, the student, a solid foundation for your Private Pilots License (PPL) as well as your Commercial Pilots License (CPL).

ATS offers first class Helicopter and Fixed Wing Training and Charters on a variety of aircraft. Ivan is our passionate and highly qualified Chief Flight Instructor. He started flying helicopters when he was in Grade 11 at school. After completing his night, instrument and single-turbine ratings, he was trained by ATS to become a helicopter instructor. On the successful completion of his training, Ivan was employed by ATS as a full time Pilot. His motivation, passion and dedication makes him a very popular Instructor. Early in life, his goal was to become an astronaut. While that was not possible, flying aeroplanes was. He was part of the structural team of the new Mini. Over the years Dean has pursued new goals in the flying world, including flying and instructing on helicopters. He has a passion for teaching and sharing the love of flying to others. His commitment towards success is the reason that he is part of the ATS team. Christoph, a German and French National, holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) on both Fixed Wing & Helicopters as well as the South African Fixed Wing ATPL and Helicopter Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), he accumulated more than 2700 hours in Sub-Saharan Africa and USA, privately and for business over the last 23 years. He has close to 800 hours of instruction, rated on both fixed and rotor-wing, with both the SACAA and the FAA. With Christoph’s FAA accreditation to conduct FAA flight reviews in SA, he is definitely an asset to ATS. He joined the ATS Family in April 2015 as a full time instructor after 4 years instructing in the Johannesburg area, he felt he needed to move onto a new challenge and work with the passionate team that have been growing ATS noticeably over the past few years. Shane was born in Alberton and spent his High School years in Centurion. He started with his Fixed Wing flying in 2008 and obtained his Commercial Pilot Licence in He has since been a Fixed Wing and Helicopter Charter Pilot with ATS and he intends to complete his Grade III instructor rating, making him an important role player in the ATS team. Shaun joined ATS Helicopters in May 2008 to do his night rating and since then he has completed his Commercial Pilots licence, Instructors licence and numerous conversion to various turbine aircraft. Shaun has a passion for flying and became part of the ATS family whilst still working in the IT industry and has done all the training and exams part time. Because of his passion, Shaun has joined ATS on all the mountain flying courses as well as the coastal flying weekends. It is such a pleasure to have him on the team to fill in when he is available for Instruction and Charters. His passion and dedication is exactly why he is a part of the ATS team.
